Facing the Complexities of Writing
This book explores writer's experiences of how she learns to write in English and then, how she teachs other (her students) to write in English. Learning and beaching English wribing has involved not only linguistic and technical aspects but also socio cultural aspects such identity and culture. During she learning journey, She has experienced the clashes between her identity as Indonesian learner and teacher of English and English writing conventions. As well as in her learning journey, the clashes have also happened in her teaching journey, especially, when certain writing activities collide with her students and culture.
This book provides a perspective on academic writing as a meaningful intellectual activity which raises important questions about culture and identity not just a mechanic and formulaic activity. Therefore, through this book, other EFL practitioners can take the benefit in trying to understand the complexities of learning and teaching English writing as involving both linguistic and cultural dimensions.
